We all know being successful in the batter’s box can be difficult. Mainly because the overall odds tend to favor the pitcher. Therefore, hitters need to do everything possible to give themselves small advantages. And one of the most important advantages a player can have is to step into the batter’s box with a hitting plan. They need to be tactical - actions carefully planned to gain a specific end.
There are occasions where a batter will hit a ball well that’s not in their Hunting Zone, but they are much less frequent.
Following are just two real life examples of what happens the majority of the time when a batter doesn’t hunt pitches.
